About IPL Photofacial
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a laser procedure performed in office by one of our skilled laser specialists. IPL is a treatment that stimulates the natural growth of collagen in the deepest layers of the skin. That collagen growth improves the texture of the skin, eliminates sun spots and age spots, and reduces the appearance of the wrinkles and fine lines that tend to give away our age.

What skin concerns does an IPL session treat?
IPL laser treat a number of concerns including: Sun damamge, Red / brown pigmentations and age spots, Vascular lesions such as spider veins and broken capillaries, Rosacea(redness), Freckles.
Is IPL painful?
It is usually described as being mildly uncomfortable with a sensation feeling like a hot rubber band being snapped against the skin. Our IPL machine has a built in cooling system which actively cools the skin as the machine is operating. This considerably reduces any discomfort felt during the treatment. Your laser specialist will also cool your skin with stainless steel ice globes and/or rollers.
What sort of downtime can I expect post treatment?
IPL is a non-invasive treatment with little to no downtime. Following the treatment, the tone of red or brown spots may darken or redden immediately. Approximately 7-10 days later, you will notice the treated skin blemishes will begin to fade, leaving behind an even skin tone and glowing complexion. For optimal results you may need more than one session.
How do I care for my skin post IPL treatment?
We recommend limiting sun exposure for two weeks following treatment, and as always, wearing medical grade SPF that is sold by our providers within Serenity Med Spa.
